Participants

  • Language: English and Chinese
  • Team Formation: A team can participate as a country, a region, a city, or as an educational institution such as a school.
    We will not accept registration for any person as an individual.
  • Team Members: Each team consists of 6 students plus one team leader (not student).

Group Divisions

  • Junior Level – For participants born on or after 2007
  • Intermediate Level – For participants born on or after 2004
  • Advanced Level – For participants who are not high school graduates and who were born on or after 2001.
  • Younger participants may participate in higher level.

  • Electronic devices such as calculator or computer (including microcomputer) or mobile phone will not be allowed during any of the above rounds.
  • No talking during Individual and Relay Rounds.
  • No passing papers around during the Individual Rounds.
  • Answers to problems in Individual Round 2 / 3 and Team Round must be 5 digits positive natural numbers.
    For example, an answer of 245 must put in as 00245.
  • During Relay Rounds, only single numeric answer is allowed to write on answer paper and passes to 2nd person. Multiple passing of papers is allowed.
  • Proctors may not leave the team area where he/she is proctoring.
  • Proctors are asked not to answer any technical questions. In case there are questions about any problems, WMTC staffs will come around to answer them. Proctors will only take care of supplying more scratch papers and pencils, delivering question sheets, and collecting answer sheets.
<Individual Round: 60 minutes>

Round 1
 – 20 minutes. 15 easy to medium level problems, 2 points each, total 30 points.
Round 2 – 40 minutes. 6 medium level and 2 difficult level problems, 4 points for each medium and 8 points
for each difficult problems for a total of 40 points.
<Relay Round: 24 minutes>
Each team divides into 3 groups with 2 persons in each group
Each team divides into 3 groups with 2 persons in each group.
8 minutes each round for 3 rounds. 3 rounds.
Each round has 2 problems as a set for each group to do relays.
For each set, only the answer from the second member of the relays group will be counted.
5-minute answers worth 20 points, 8-minute answers worth 15 points.
Total possible points for each group is 60.
Points count toward team score equal to the average score of 3 groups in a team.
<Team Round: 40 minutes>
40 minutes to solve 14 problems, 5 points per problem, total 70 points.
Discussion is allowed. Each team submits one answer sheet.
Points count toward team score equal to the total score of the team round.
